When new plaster or PebbleTec cures underwater, it’s still a living surface. It's reacting with water, and hardening into its final state. Low calcium hardness, low alkalinity and high pH present a danger to sensitive plaster.
If the water chemistry isn’t managed perfectly, you can get:
- A rough finish that tenderizes toes
- Cracks that lead to leaks
- Staining or discoloration
Let's keep that brand new pool looking brand new!
There are a lot of factors to manage with precision.
For example, test strips are imprecise. They’re convenient, but they provide a range of values instead of an exact measurement. Meaning your chemical dosages can be wrong. Buy a good drop test kit instead. (About $150)
Accurately measuring the pool gallons can be hard. Use our calculator! Pool Size Calculator
You need to brush every surface to remove plaster dust. Corners and edges can be tough, so get an edge brush! Be careful not to brush too hard or rub the new plaster with the metal pole ends. That can scratch permanently.
Or you can hire a pro instead 🦑
